Purpose of Site
This site was developed to help people who are seeking help for panic attacks, anxiety, phobias, depression, insomnia and those coping with trauma, injury or chronic illness. I am a licensed psychologist in New York state and employ a treatment approach which integrates biofeedback, cognitive therapy, and relaxation training to help people help themselves. I teach relaxation and meditative techniques that help people achieve greater peace of mind and reduced physical tension. I have a special interest in panic attacks and migraine and enjoy working with veterans and first responders. I have been serving the people of Westchester County, New York since 1988.

Pocket Guide to Panic Attacks. You can receive a a free copy of my new Pocket Guide to Panic Attacks by sending an email at the address below. I will be happy to send you a return message with a PDF attachment. This item is now available in a handy wallet-size format. The self-help steps contained in the pocket guide are also listed on my Who Can Benefit page. You can receive the wallet-sized version by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to P.O. Box 2526, Briarcliff Manor, NY 10510. The guide provides a concise overview of panic disorder. It also explains how most panic attacks occur and the steps you can take to stop them. Panic attacks respond very well to a cognitive behavioral treatment approach. The feedback from my own patients has been very positive. Many report that even though they know how to stop a panic attack they reach for the booklet during an episode to review the steps. For a more complete review of panic attacks I recommend a book by Dr. Reid Wilson entitled Don't Panic.

I have just finished my second booklet which is a Pocket Guide to Depression. It describes the symptoms of a clinical depression, lists several self-help steps that can be taken, describes cognitive therapy and the core elements of a new approach - acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).

If you change your life by even a single degree, years later you will be in a different place. (from NPR Morning Edition interview with Tobias Wolfe, 4/22/2008.)

Introduction to Mindfulness.       An instructional CD which I have been developing over the past 30 years of teaching people like you how to relax and achieve greater peace of mind. The CD is a helpful addition to self-help programs, cognitive therapy, DBT, ACT and traditional psychotherapy. The CD integrates several effective methods for achieving a relaxed state with instructions in mindful awareness. It is designed to be followed by a simple mindfulness meditation or more advanced relaxation instructions to target specific physical and emotional problems.
